5 Reasons to Book A Spa Day at The Kananaskis Nordic Spa

I’ve never been to a spa before. I’ve always loved the idea of a spa but it’s just been one of those things on my list that I never got around to doing. When I got invited to the Kananaskis Nordic Spa for a press event, going to the spa rose to the top of my to-do list!

Phones and cameras are prohibited in the spa, but an exception was made for a select group of creators to experience the peaceful settings while showcasing it to their audience. It was truly an amazing experience, one I urge you ladies to indulge in.

I don’t think it takes much to convince a lady to head to the spa, but for argument’s sake, I’ll give you 5 reasons.

Reason 1: The Scenic Route

Nestled in the mountains, The Kananaskis Nordic Spa is an hour and a half away from Calgary, Alberta. Even on a dreary, snowy day, the drive wasn’t unpleasant because it was such a beautiful, scenic route. From the mountains to the forestry to the thick blanket of snow covering everything, it was a sight for sore eyes.

Reason 2: Relaxing Atmosphere

After driving through a scenery that could only lift your mood and make you “ooh” and “aah,” the relaxing, zen atmosphere of the spa added to my calm and positive spirit. There were signs reassuring guests of the measures being taken to ensure that Covid-19 didn’t hinder our experience. A gentleman in reception thoroughly also explained everything about the spa so my friend, Chevonni, and I could walk around without any confusion.

As we walked into the spa, the sound of flowing water filled our ears, we breathed in fresh mountain air, and we saw the aesthetically pleasing spa grounds filled with steam; it was perfect.

Reason 3: The Hydrotherapy Pool Cycle System

The Nordic spa features various steam rooms, saunas, hammocks, rest areas, a restaurant, and a hydrotherapy cycle system. We spent a majority of our stay trying out the hydrotherapy cycle system which consists of five pools; 2 hot pools, 2 warm pools, and 1 cold plunge pool. These pools helped me to achieve complete and total relaxation in my body and mind. I left the pool cycle feeling like I was floating. I had no idea how much tension was in my body until I felt it all melt away!

Reason 4: The Food Comes to You

As I mentioned before, the Nordic spa has a restaurant, Two Trees Bistro, so that hunger doesn’t interrupt your experience. While we sipped on mimosas and cherry cider, Chevonni and I had the croque nordic and the house-made salmon gravalax and avocado for dinner.

The salads were so flavourful that I had to ask how, and our server, Dakota, let us know that all the house dressings are made from scratch with the simplest of ingredients. Who knew going back to basics could be so tasty?

We ended the night by sampling sumptuous desserts. It was the perfect sugar boost to end the night.

Reason 5: The Customer Service

A place can have amazing facilities but subpar customer service can ruin an experience. That was not the case here. Every single person we encountered either had something nice to say, or a friendly smile for us. The locker rooms were always being cleaned, with the staff being so kind and recommending that we come back for massages (which we will).

The best experience we had was with Dakota, our server at the Two Trees Bistro. She was so bubbly and energetic, it was infectious. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and we both took her suggestions and were very impressed.

The Nordic Spa was an unforgettable experience indeed. If you’d like to book your reservation for the spa, click HERE. If you’d to see a visual version of my experience, click below to watch my vlog of the trip.
